: Adaptable Gallery

Award: Honorable Mention
Location: London, England
Project Year: 2008
Construction area: 500.00m²
With: Pax Arquitetura

PS : Project developed for the urban ideas competition “London 2008”, organized by the Arquitectum group, aimed at promoting ideas for a mobile gallery; an adaptable architectural structure that could navigate the River Thames and thus bring art and design through the city of London.

Two distinct forms complement each other and result in a space that symbolizes the dynamics of the city of London and expresses the unpredictability of human occupation.

The division into layers allows organic and fluid forms ensuring in the central internal space the adaptability necessary for the most diverse uses, including holographic projections foreseen in the gallery.

Between the fluid space and the external closure for protection from the weather, circulations and services serve the gallery.

The constant visual permeability allows the relationship with the city along the entire course of the river, providing different views of the London landscape.
